‘Ramayana’ Beats ‘Animal’ Opening Records, Falls Short of ‘Adipurush’

Mumbai: Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, has outperformed the opening-day collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, but failed to surpass the record set by Prabhas-starrer Adipurush.

Released worldwide on November 5, Ramayana reportedly collected Rs 64.85 crore net in India on its opening day, with its domestic gross crossing Rs 77 crore.

The film’s opening collection was higher than Pathaan’s Rs 57 crore and Animal’s Rs 63 crore. However, it remained below the Rs 86.75 crore opening-day record reported for Adipurush.

Ramayana had generated strong interest ahead of its release, with global advance bookings reportedly touching Rs 200 crore. India accounted for more than Rs 120 crore in advance ticket sales.

The Hindi version recorded a strong opening, while the Kannada version reportedly contributed Rs 7.25 crore.
